Night Classes

In Kitakyushu there are night classes where people can learn how to read and do math at an elementary and junior high school level. The people studying at these classes include those who weren't able to receive adequate mandatory education, such as Japanese nationals who have returned to Japan from China, and Korean people living in Japan.

The classes are held with volunteer staff on Mondays through Fridays, from 7 pm to 9 pm, and take place primarily at the Jonan Junior High School in Kokuraminami ward and at the Ano Elementary School in Yahatanishi ward. The classes will be held in Japanese.

The classes are for people who are 15 years old or older who were not able to receive adequate mandatory education. However, people who want to study Japanese language such as exchange students and people who have come to Japan to work, will not be allowed to attend.

The classes are free. However, students must pay for their own stationary and for extracurricular activities.

Applications are accepted at any time.
