Road marking for areas where leaving bicycles unattended is prohibited

●What denotes an unattended bicycle?
The term “unattended bicycle” refers to a bicycle that is parked in a public place, while the bicycle’s user (or owner) is not nearby and is not able to move the bicycle in a timely manner.
Whether or not a bicycle is determined to be unattended is not based on how long it has been unattended or its intended use, but instead is based on the location in which it was left unattended.
People may think that “it can't hurt to park just one bicycle” but that mind set creates a large amount of unattended bicycles.

●About areas where leaving bicycles unattended is prohibited:
Having unattended bicycles in places where they negatively affect people's living environment and impairs the usage of roads and sidewalks is a problem, so areas that generally have established bicycle parking areas are designated as “areas where leaving bicycles unattended is prohibited”. Information boards with maps that show these areas and signs are put up. Signs are also painted onto the roads.

●About the removal of unattended bicycles:
Bicycles that are left unattended in areas where it is specifically prohibited will be removed after a warning is given, in accordance with city ordinance. Furthermore, bicycles that are left unattended in public spaces where it is not specifically prohibited will, under the same city ordinance, after receiving a warning, be removed after seven days have passed. Whether it is specifically prohibited or not, please don't leave your bicycle unattended.

●About bicycle parking areas:
There are pay for bicycle parking areas established in areas where leaving bicycles unattended is prohibited. Always park your bicycle in one of these bicycle parking areas.
