[IMPORTANT] Switching to ‘Residence Card’・‘Special Permanent Resident Certificate’

Your ‘Certificate of Alien Registration’ must be switched to either ‘Residence Card’ or ‘Special Permanent Resident Certificate’!!

To Special Permanent Residents (please switch to ‘Special Permanent Resident Certificates’)

If the next confirmation (replacement) application period for your ‘Certificate of Alien Registration’ was until July 8 2015, your ‘Certificate of Alien Registration’ expired on this day.

Furthermore, for those that had their 16th birthdays by July 8 2015, their ‘Certificate of Alien Registrations’ have expired as well.

If you are a special permanent resident and do not have ‘Special Permanent Resident Certificate’ and still have your ‘Certificate of Alien Registration’ that have expired on the specified date above, please urgently visit the nearest municipal office to replace your ‘Certificate of Alien Registration’ with the ‘Special Permanent Resident Certificate’.

It should be noted that while your special permanent resident status will not be lost even if you do not replace your ‘Certificate of Alien Registration’ with ‘Special Permanent Resident Certificate’; please be aware that the ‘Special Re-Entry System’ will not be applicable.

To Permanent Residents (please switch to ‘Residence Cards’)

All ‘Certificate of Alien Registrations’ for permanent residents have expired on July 8 2015.

If you are a permanent resident and do not have your ‘Residence Card’, please urgently visit either the nearest regional immigration bureau, the district immigration office, or its branch offices (Airport District Immigration Offices and Airport Branch Offices are exceptions) to apply for a ‘Residence Card’ replacement.

Although you will not lose your resident status by not making the replacement to ‘Residence Card’; please be aware that you will not be applicable for the ‘Special Re-Entry System’.
