Kurosaki-shuku Spring Lantern Festival

The Kurosaki-shuku Spring Lantern Festival is held in celebration of Kurosaki as a place of international exchange as a shukuba machi, or an inn town of Nagasaki Kaido (a road connecting Kokura to Nagasaki).

Along with the festival, the streets from JR Kurosaki Station to the Kurosaki Shopping Arcade will be decorated with Chinese lanterns, and there will be a bazaar filled with global gourmet cuisine and drinks. Add to that, the event will be filled with global stage performances including the traditional Chinese traditional entertainment of henmen (a type of Chinese opera).

Furthermore, at the pedestrian deck of JR Kurosaki Station, performances such as Yosakoi dance will be organized, and at the Kumade Market, display of hina-ningyo or ornamental dolls, and karaoke competition are scheduled to be held - making the spring of Kurosaki an exciting one to remember.
